Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy - What can it do for you?Get rid of
unwanted habits such as smoking, nail biting or stuttering. If you are prepared to spend time, effort and self discipline to be free of your problem then you will be. Back to TopWhat is Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy? There are
two main levels of treatments used in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.
Both are often mixed to obtain the best results for the client. The first
level is known as suggestion based therapy where some idea or suggestion
is put forward to the client to help bring about an enhancement and improvement
in their life and enable them to achieve what they hope for. This method
is particularly useful to help a client become a non smoker, alleviate
pre-test nerves, nail biting, improve self confidence and to be more motivated. Back to TopWhy do we sometimes develop problems? The human mind is made up of two parts, the non intelligent but clever subconscious mind and the intelligent conscious mind. We have an awareness of the conscious part of our mind but usually we are unaware of the workings of our subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the automatic part of our mind and behaves in a way which could be compared to a computer program. Everything we have ever experienced, done, said, heard, smelt or seen is stored in the memory of our subconscious and this gives us an enormous resource to call upon to help us in our lives. However just like a computer can develop a fault in its program , our subconscious mind through misunderstandings, emotions and experiences can also develop a fault. When this happens we may develop symptoms such as depression, anxiety, lack of confidence in ourselves, extreme tiredness, phobias, asthma, eating problems, sleeping problems, migraines etc.. How can all this help you? When a fault
in our subconscious programming occurs it is normally difficult for us
to correct the program by ourselves, and this is where therapy can help. Back to TopQuestions and answers.
What is Hypnosis?Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness, you are more aware of everything that is happening to you. It is a perfectly natural state and is usually accompanied by a pleasant state of physical relaxation. Have you ever been so involved in a task that you have lost track of time? Have you ever driven from one place to another and arrived safely but not remember the journey? Have you ever day-dreamed? These are all everyday examples of being in an altered state of awareness. Is there any reason to be worried about it ?None at all. Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid to all sorts of problems. The therapist guides you to your own resolutions based upon what you seek to achieve. Am I asleep ?No, you are in a very relaxed state, you are aware of what is around you and everything that is happening to you. Is there anyone who cannot be hypnotised?Only those who are high on drugs or alcohol or perhaps those who are mentally handicapped in the extreme cannot be hypnotised. The depth of the hypnotic state will be different for different people. Are drugs used? No. How many visits will I need?Simple problems like nail biting can be removed in 2-3 sessions whilst more serious problems may take longer.
